For all of its vibrancy and cosmopolitan culture, Newtown can often feel cramped and claustrophobic. There were two main goals with the Brown Street project. Firstly, our clients wanted to feel a close connection to nature. Their modest sized back yard was not quite enough to help them achieve their desire to bring the outdoors into their home. A completely private and spacious internal courtyard gives their home a point of difference and certainly delivers the “wow” factor.
The second goal was to maximise the limited space in their elongated terrace. Well designed rooms with high ceilings fill the downstairs area and clever storage options in the bedrooms helped to give that luxurious, spacious feel on a slim, long block.
